Welcome to the Statistical Laboratory and Department of Statistics! The Statistics Department at Iowa State University was established in 1934. It is housed in Snedecor Hall on the Iowa State University Campus in Ames, Iowa. Snedecor Hall is named after the department's founder George Snedecor. We are committed to the advancement of statistical knowledge. The Department is achieving this goal when the results of new research are published in nationally and internationally recognized journals, when statistical knowledge is imparted to graduate and undergraduate students through innovative instruction in statistical theory and methodology, and when statistical methodology is used to advance scientific knowledge, address significant policy issues and promote technological development on campus, within Iowa and across the nation.
