Data Entry
The information on many of the web pages is driven by MySQL databases, coupled with the php web scripting language. Thus, when information is changed/added in a database, the web page is automatically updated for viewing. Each database has a group of people who have access to it, depending on the information. Below are the current web databases:
- Seminar Calendar- when seminars are entered in the calendar, they are automatically displayed on the department seminar page
- Reserve Teaching Laptops - by entering one's ISU NetID, instructors can do their own reservations for borrowing laptops for teaching courses and the equipment loaning schedule is displayed by selecting "Main Reservation Page"
- Faculty Database -this is where faculty can update their vita information such as publications, professional activities, etc. Updated information appears on the department faculty directory web page. This data is also used for faculty annual reviews and the department annual report
- Room Reservations- currently, our support staff have authority to reserve classroom times in our computer labs.
- Department Course Pages - our support staff have authority to modify the course schedule. Please contact them or computing support personnel if a correction is needed for your course. The semester course schedule appears on the department Courses web page.
