1. PDF

- Rename
the PDF file as follows: the
name of the
file should contain no spaces
and be preceded
with the post date and a minus (-) sign (entered
as YYYY-MM-DD-).
For example, suppose the original file was named U of
Chicago.pdf and the job will be posted on December 2, 2008.
Then the renamed file should be 2008-12-02-UofChicago.pdf.
- Then copy it to the Job
Attachments
folder
on your desktop.
( Note that the job attachment folder
desktop shortcut
is linked
using AFS as
\\afs\iastate.edu\virtual\wwwstat\WWW\alumni\jobopp\attachments.
Department support personnel can create the job attachment
folder on your desktop using the Open
AFS software ). - Using a web
browser, go to
StatisticsHomepage>Resources>DataEntry>JobOpportunities
and enter your ISU NetID and password.
- Add
a new entry for this job by selecting the Add Button at
the bottom of the page. Fill in the Org, Location (City
and/or university), Postdate (enter in YYYY-MM-DD format), Closedate
(if none, enter 0000-00-00) and Jobtitle. This information
should be contained in the PDF file or in the email message.
- For the Attachment box, enter the revised name of the PDF
file as described above in the format of YYYY-MM-DD-name.pdf.
Then press the Save button at the bottom and it will be added
to the alumni and grad student Job
Opportunity web page.
2. MS Word .DOC or .DOCX Job
Description Provided:
- If the
employer provided a MS Word document (.DOC or .DOCX), convert the
Word document to a PDF file using either Adobe Acrobat
Professional or the freeware PRIMO
PDF printer.
- Then follow
instructions in PDF

as described in Step 1.
3. No Attached Job
Description Provided:
- If the
employer's email does not have an attached .DOC or .PDF, open up MS
Word and copy/paste the relevant information from the email to the Word
document. Then save the document as a PDF file, using either
Adobe Acrobat Professional or Primo PDF.
- Finish
by following
instructions in PDF
