Projectors and computers to check out
- Faculty: All staff and faculty have their own machines. Many faculty have both a desktop and laptop. Most are Windows XP but a few use Linux and a few others have Macintoshes. Some faculty also have Unix workstations.
- Graduate students: Caver 205 are a departmental lab mainly used by statistics graduate students, although the machines are also accessible to statistics faculty and staff. The lab contains 8 Dell Optiplex GX260's (Pentium 4's) that dual boot into either Windows XP or Linux. The machines are configured identically to the public lab machines in Pearson 113.
- Undergraduate statistics students: can use the 2 public labs: Pearson 113 and Caver 205.
- Department Linux Servers: The department has several Linux servers we use as file servers, web servers, cvs servers and rsync servers for faculty/staff backups. We have a machine dedicated to providing server space to all graduate students in our department. The department also maintains a permanent linux machine, linux1.stat.iastate.edu, available for all students, staff and faculty for long-running jobs or general use. Please see personnel in room 3437 of Wilson Hall to obtain server file space.
In the Wilson Hall, the north end of the third floor has a computing room There are other smaller computer rooms on the second and third floor.
