Right-click on My Computer and
select
Properties.
Select the
Remote Tab.
Next check the box to "
Allow users to connect remotely
to the computer", then click
OK. To
restrict users, press the tab entitled "
Select Remote
Users". To enter your NetID, select
Add, in
the white rectangle, enter
iastate/NetID,
where NetID is the email logon of the person that you want
to have access remotely to your office computer. Then select
"Check Names".
When the name changes to the ISU email address,
select OK.
Enter
iastate\NetID:
Click on "Check
Names" Button:
After Step1, Windows should
automtatically configure the firewall to allow Remote Desktop
connections. If you want to make sure this has been done,
select:
Start>ControlPanel>WindowsFirewall>Exceptions.
Displayed alphabetically, you should see the
Remote Desktop box checked as shown below. If you don't see
it (which is highly unlikely), you can add the Remote Desktop option by
selecting "Add Program" and entering the following:
C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe.
