Seminar Notice Statistical Laboratory Iowa State University DATE AND TIME: Monday, December 1, 1997, 4:10 p.m. PLACE: 319 Snedecor Hall SPEAKER: Fred Lorenz Department of Statistics Iowa State University TITLE: "Modeling Growth and Decline with Structural Equations" ABSTRACT This seminar reviews some of the history leading up to current efforts to model growth and decline. The growth curve approach advocated by Rogosa et. al (1982) is compared with classic autoregressive models (e.g., Kessler and Greenberg 1981). Structural equation approaches to modeling growth and decline using LISREL and EQs are compared with a popular alternative that uses hierarchical linear models (HLM). Examples are from the Iowa Youth and Family Project and from the Iowa Single Parent Project. COFFEE: 3:45 p.m., 104 Snedecor Hall Seminar schedules and abstracts are available via WWW: http://www.public.iastate.edu/~stat/
