TITLE: Graphical Methods for Design Assessment for a Variety of Types
of Experiments
ABSTRACT
Frequently, several competing designs are possible for a given experiment,
and one important aspect of the designs which is worthwhile to consider
comparing is their ability to predict throughout the design space. This talk
will illustrate how fraction of design space (FDS) plots and 3-dimensional
variance dispersion graphs (3-D VDG) provide extensive visual information for
better understanding of how different designs can be compared. The methods will
be illustrated with a variety of different design types, including split-plot
designs, and mixture-process designs. The performance of different designs may
differ greatly depending on where in design spaces we wish to make new
predictions. In addition, for the split-plot case, additional parameters for the
model need to be specified in order to fully understand design performance. The
methods, which allow for comparison between several designs, will be illustrated
with several examples.
