Abstract:
In microarray analysis, multivariate permutation testing has been shown
to be a powerful tool for identifying differentially expressed gene
sets. Because a given gene set may involve tens, hundreds, or even
thousands of genes, it is possible that a difference among the
high-dimensional multivariate distributions corresponding to multiple
treatments may be due to only a relatively small subset of all genes in
a gene set. We explore whether permutation techniques can be used to
identify these small gene subsets responsible for high-dimensional
distribution differences.
