Many faculty members and students in our department have been heavily involved in the AP® Statistics community at the national level.
Professor Emeritus Dr. Ken Koehler was chair of the Department of Statistics at ISU 2002-2014. He was part of an AP® Statistics organizational meeting in the summer of 1996. In 1997, he was a Table Leader at the first Reading. He served at the Chair of the AP® Statistics Development Committee from 2005-2010. Ken attended all but a few of the readings between 1997 and 2022. He was the Chief Reader 2019-2022.
Dr. Barb Barnett graduated with her Ph.D. in Statistics and Curriculum & Instruction at ISU in 1999. She attended her first AP® Statistics Reading in 2004. She previously served as a Reader, Table Leader, and Question Leader. This summer (2023), she will the Chief Reader.
Dr. Ann Cannon graduated with her Ph.D. in Statistics at ISU in 1994. She has attended all but one AP® Statistics Readings since 2000. Ann has been the Assistant Chief Reader since 2015. She has also been a content developer and accuracy checker for The Practice of Statistics (an AP® Statistics book by Daren Starnes and Josh Tabor).
Professor Emeritus Dr. Bob Stevenson started grading AP® Statistics exams in 1998. Since then, he has served as a member and co-chair of the Test Development Committee as well as presented Beyond AP® Statistics sessions at conferences.
Current faculty Dr. Laura Ziegler and Dr. Anna Peterson have served in various leadership positions (Question Leader and Rubric Team Member respectively).
We are excited to become more involved in the AP® Statistics community at the local level. We want to connect with our local high school teachers and provide them with assistance as they grow in their teaching careers. Further, we want to help high school students succeed in learning statistics.
