Israel A. Almodóvar-Rivera wins 2018 ASA MDD student paper competition award

Israel A. Almodóvar-Rivera (Ph.D., Iowa State Statistics, 2017 and currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Puerto Rico) won second place in the 2018 Student Paper competition of the American Statistical Association's (ASA) Section on Medical Devices and Diagnostics (MDD) for his co-authored submission “FAST Adaptive Smoothing and Thresholding for Improved Activation Detection in Low-Signal fMRI” (current version at https://arxiv.org/abs/1702.00111). The award is adjudicated and given for research done as a student and will be presented in a special topic-contributed session at the 2018 Joint Statistical Meetings in Vancouver, BC. Congratulations to Israel!
