Shu Yang, Iowa State University alumnus and associate professor of statistics at NC State University, has been selected for the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPSS) Emerging Leader Award for her contributions to the field of statistical science. This award recognizes early career statistical scientists who exhibit leadership and the potential to shape and strengthen the discipline.
Yang graduated from Iowa State University in 2014, where she co-majored in statistics and mathematics. After her undergraduate studies, Yang pursued a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. In 2016, she joined NC State as a faculty member and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021.
Receiving the COPSS Emerging Leader Award is a testament to Yang's dedication, innovation, and leadership within the statistical community.
