Alicia Carriquiry Named Inaugural Patricia S. Conn Professor of Statistics

Distinguished Professor Alicia Carriquiry has been named the inaugural Patricia S. Conn Professor of Statistics, an endowed professorship established to honor the legacy of Patricia S. Conn, a 1969 Iowa State statistics Ph.D. graduate who dedicated her career to excellence in teaching and scholarship.

Honoring Patricia S. Conn's Legacy

Patricia S. Conn was professor emerita of mathematics at Purdue University Fort Wayne, where she built a reputation as both an accomplished researcher and dedicated educator. Her academic journey began with a bachelor of science in mathematics from Central Connecticut State College in 1956, followed by a master of science in mathematics and statistics from Purdue University in 1959. She completed her Ph.D. in statistics at Iowa State University in 1969 under the direction of Professor H. T. David. During her time at Iowa State, Conn was recognized as an excellent student and teacher, qualities that would define her subsequent career in academia.
