Bill Graves is a horticulture faculty member and researcher and previously served as graduate college associate dean and dean. He has been at Iowa State University since 1992, and his use of the statistical consulting service has spanned a similar length of time.
Graves explained that he originally used the service for experimental design questions and clarification. He has also encouraged graduate students to use the service.
After stepping down as graduate college dean in 2025, he is getting back into research and is using the consulting service again. Most of his questions are discussions about statistical tests (sometimes learning about a new test) and how to display data.
“I've been pleased with the suggestions that I've been given for how to represent the data for manuscripts when I'm getting ready to publish in a refereed journal.”
Graves is currently working with the service on research that will be submitted to a research journal in summer 2026.
He has been working with Statistical Consulting Manager Rebekah Scott, which he describes as a “nice synergistic relationship on taking these data sets and trying to make the most of them.”
