Position
  • Research Professor
My career began in federal statistics at the Federal Reserve Board, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Census Bureau. Transitioning to the science, technology, and innovation arena, I led the economic evaluation program for the Advanced Technology Program at the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) and then the manufacturing technology area at the IDA Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI). From there, my career moved to academia to co-found a data science research group at Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia. We have always had close partnerships with Iowa State University so am delighted to join the Statistics Dept. My work focuses on supporting the Census Bureau in its decadal modernization and transformation to create statistical products that go beyond traditional survey methods.
