The Statistics PhD Minor is for PhD students in other disciplines who are interested in obtaining a minor in Statistics. If you are obtaining an MS rather than a PhD, please see our Statistics MS Minor.
Requirements
- Include one faculty member with some appointment in Statistics on the POS committee as a minor representative.
- Complete a minimum of 4 Statistics courses, including STAT 5101, 5147, and at least two elective courses (of at least 3 credits each) at the 5501 level or higher.
- Receive at least a B grade in both STAT 5101 and 5147, and a grade point average for the four courses of at least 3.33 (B+).
Note: STAT 5501 can be substituted for STAT 5101, but only one of the two courses can be used for Minor credit. Similarly, STAT 5542 and STAT 5543 can substitute for STAT 5147. If you take 5542 and 5543 instead of 5147, you will still need two electives (for a total of 5 courses) to complete the Minor requirements.
