About Us

Stats club stands with guest speaker from John Deere

Stats Club is a community for undergraduate students who are interested in data and statistics! There is no experience required and we are open to all majors. Statistics is involved in nearly every career field, from science and engineering to marketing, healthcare, forensics, sports analytics, and the social sciences. It can help answer questions such as:

  • Can we use data to predict the next breakthrough athlete?
  • What is the probability that a shoeprint at a crime scene came from the suspect’s shoes?
  • What behaviors are associated with academic success, and to what extent can they predict performance?

Our goal is to help each other learn about statistics, build valuable skills, and get connected with opportunities both on and off campus.

Stats club participates in pictionary nightActivities

Stats Club meets once a week during the fall and spring semesters. Typical meetings include:

  • Guest speakers such as ISU researchers and industry professionals
  • Collaborative projects where members can gain experience working with real datasets and analytical tools. This is a great thing to talk about during interviews!
  • Social events where you can meet new friends (with free food!)
