Scholarships and Awards

The Department of Statistics, with generous support of our alumni and friends, has several scholarships available to full-time undergraduate students with a major in Statistics. A listing of these scholarships, with criteria, can be found below. To apply, complete the application in the university's OneApp scholarship portal. The deadline for applications for the 2024-25 academic year is Wednesday, March 6, 2024 for incoming first-year students, Wednesday, March 13, 2024 for incoming transfer students, and Thursday, April 11, 2024 continuing students.


George W. Snedecor Undergraduate Statistics Award

Recipient(s) shall be juniors or seniors majoring in statistics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 and a minimum GPA in Statistics courses of 3.5/4.0. The recipient(s) shall have demonstrated superior academic achievement and scholarship. 

Herta and Herbert T. David Scholarship in Statistics

Recipients shall be sophomores, juniors or seniors majoring in statistics who have verified financial need* and are from challenging family backgrounds, representing a unique situation that might prevent them from considering a college education at Iowa State University. Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0.

Schillmoeller Family Scholarship in Statistics

Recipients shall be undergraduate statistics majors with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 with preference to those who have verified financial need*. 

Charlie and Barb Hunt Scholarship in Statistics

Recipients shall be sophomores, juniors, or seniors majoring in statistics who demonstrate they are highly motivated academically and possess a strong work ethic. Preference shall be given to students who have verified financial need* and to female students, as permitted by university policy, and state and federal law.

J.A.K. Scholarship in Statistics

Recipients shall be undergraduate statistics majors who demonstrate an interest in using statistics to study human behavior/relations. Preference shall be given to students who have verified financial need*.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Recipients shall be undergraduate statistics majors who show academic potential and/or performance in statistics.
